Golf Screening Tool

For those of us who love golf, the drive to improve seems inherent in the game. This desire to always better yourself on the golf course, and the journey that this desire puts you on is one of the great elements of golf.
But the truth is many golfers may find improvement difficult, or have a hard time avoiding pain related to their golf if they are not 'fit for golf'.
Golfers from high to low handicaps will often be unaware of the physical limitations that restrict, and physically stress, their game.
GB Physiotherapy offers a 20 point, golf-specific assessment that addresses all physical requirements of the golf swing and putting stroke.

Address and Backswing

Very specific muscle and joint flexibility are required for optimal takeaway and backswing. Do you have the optimal flexibility in the neck, shoulders, wrists, spine and hips for the best start into the downswing?

GB Physiotherapy's Golf Screen will assess the flexibility of every body part involved in the golf swing to ensure you have the moves to make the right swing.

Downswing and Follow Through

The compressive forces on the low back during the golf swing can reach 8 times body weight (versus only 3 times BW while running), so it pays to have the optimal spine and hip flexibility, and core strength to withstand these forces.
A lack of low back and hip flexibility, and poor core strength has been shown to be a significant factor in low back pain, as well as a loss of clubhead speed (1).
GB Physiotherapy will ensure you have the optimal flexibility and motor control.

Putting Stroke

Although not the physical stress of a full swing, the right posture and endurance of specific back muscles is vital for a consistent putting stroke.
